Fitzpatrick: Budget Deal is a Step in the Right Direction
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-8) released the following statement Thursday night regarding the passage (332-94) of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013 [H.J.Res. 59]:
The ‘Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013’ worked out by the Democratic Senate Budget Chair and the Republican House Budget Chair is a step in the right direction toward fiscal normalcy and regular order. By putting an end to governance by crisis when it comes to budgeting, we can begin to work together to find real, common sense reforms to the problems that all Americans face.
The budget compromise reduces the federal deficit by $23 billion more than under the sequester without raising taxes while providing $63 billion in sequester relief over the next two years.
