Fitzpatrick: A Grateful Nation Thanks our Veterans

LANGHORNE, PA – Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-8) released the following statement Monday in recognition of Veterans Day:

“This is the day we have set aside to honor the service and sacrifice of our brave fighting men and women. Veterans Day assures us that each year, we as a grateful country will take the time to thank those who served in our armed forces across generations.

Throughout history, our nation has called on its best and brightest to protect our freedoms, and at times, make the ultimate sacrifice in their defense. Their service should never go unrecognized and the gratefulness we feel should never be limited to one day.

Today we thank our all veterans from each branch and each generation – from ones who served in celebrated battles, or those who died on battlefields long forgotten. We also celebrate the strength and courage of the American military family who shoulders a heavy burden in the defense of our nation.

As the federal representative to nearly 60,000 of our nation’s veterans I have I unique appreciation for what their service means and what we owe them when they return home from battle. I will continue to work on the behalf of all our military veterans – both locally and across this great nation – because they served us, now it is time we serve them.”

Fitzpatrick marked Veterans Day with a series of stops across the district, including speaking to assembled veterans at the Washington’s Crossing National Cemetery as well as participating in Council Rock South High School’s annual Veterans Day celebration.

Leading up to Veterans Day, Fitzpatrick has been active in the community in speaking with and thanking local veterans. Last week, Fitzpatrick joined over 100 veterans from lower Bucks County at Maple Point Middle School in Langhorne for the school’s 11th annual Veterans Day Ceremony where he was a guest speaker. He later joined nearly 250 veterans in upper Montgomery County for a ‘Thank You’ breakfast at Upper Perkiomen High School hosted by State Sen. Bob Mensch.

Fitzpatrick represents nearly 60,000 veterans in Bucks and Montgomery counties. He is a member of the Congressional Veterans Jobs Caucus and aggressively works to increase the efficiency and transparency of the VA.
