Fitzpatrick: Keep the IRS Off Your Healthcare
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Fitzpatrick (PA-8) released the following statement Friday regarding passage of the Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act [HR 2009] in a bipartisan House of Representatives vote; 232-185:
“Today’s bipartisan vote is a clear indication that Americans nationwide have deep concerns regarding the Internal Revenue Service’s role in the implementation of the President’s Healthcare law.
The recent IRS targeting scandal has called into question many of the practices at the IRS. Congress should continue to fulfill its oversight role to determine the full scope of the alleged abuses.
The IRS is on the brink of losing our trust. Allowing the IRS to enforce the President’s healthcare law is going too far, and, another indication of the misguided law’s shortcomings. Tax agents should have no role in health care.”
Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick is serving his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He represents Pennsylvania’s 8th district which includes all of Bucks County as well as a portion of Montgomery County. He serves as the Vice Chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
