Fitzpatrick: Small Business Week is Every Week

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-8) released the following statement Thursday in recognition of the National Small Business Week:

“For the last 50 years Americans have recognized the importance of small businesses to our communities and our national economy by marking National Small Business Week – but small business week is every week.

Small businesses are the engine that powers the American economy- More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and small business creates about two out of every three new jobs in the US each year.

National Small Business Week encourages Americans to support their local small businesses by buying small and buying local. However, for lawmakers supporting local businesses should mean removing regulations and road block that prevent growth and increasing economic certainty to encourage hiring.

America’s small businesses are prepared to propel this nation’s economy into a second American century, and lawmakers and shoppers alike should recognize their importance year round.”

National Small Business Week has been recognized every year since 1963 by order of a presidential proclamation.
