Fitzpatrick Statement on Willow Grove UAV Facility Announcement

Mar 20, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C – Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-8) issued following statement regarding the announcement that United States Air Force will bring nearly 200 jobs to the former site of the Willow Grove Naval Air Station for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle command center.

"I am pleased that nearly 200 new jobs will be coming to Willow Grove to support missions utilizing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.  UAV's have saved the lives of an untold number of American soldiers.  They are an effective means to serve warning to the enemies of the United States that our pursuit of justice will be forever relentless.

While the Willow Grove facility will not have the capacity to launch UAV's, I share the concerns of many Americans regarding their domestic use.  I look forward to visiting the facility to ensure that our freedoms are protected both at home and abroad.

Careers focused on advanced technology are critical to growing our region; this facility could serve to make us the nation's leader in these emerging technologies which will create more jobs."
