Statement from Congressman Fitzpatrick on June Unemployment Report

Jul 6, 2012 Issues: Economy and Jobs

LANGHORNE, Pa –  Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (PA-08) issued the following statement  on the Department of Labor’s announcement that national unemployment for the month of June remained unchanged at 8.2%.

"Like all Americans, I am deeply concerned about the anemic job growth rate this summer.  Today's announcement of only 80,000 jobs gained highlights the failure of current federal policy to provide American small businesses with the tools they need to create jobs and grow the economy.  The consistent overall message that has emerged from my meetings with local job creators as part of my pledge to visit 100 Businesses in 100 Days is that they need Congress to pursue policies which reform our broken tax code, streamline our inefficient regulatory process, reduce the price of powering our homes and businesses, and rein in rising healthcare costs.  As this Summer of Uncertainty continues, I will remain focused on positioning small business for success through a real, lasting economic recovery."
