Fitzpatrick, Murphy, Knight Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Ensure Small Business Federal Contractors Get Paid

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08), Stephanie Murphy (FL-07) and Steve Knight (CA-25) introduced legislation Tuesday to ensure small business federal contractors get paid in a timely manner for change orders. The Small Business Payment for Performance Act [H.R. 2594] allows contractors to send an invoice once the change order is completed and request that they get paid 50% of the bill immediately to offset the extra costs. Currently, small businesses contract without this protection.

Fitzpatrick, Boyle oppose plan to charge service members a fee for GI Bill benefits

A plan to increase benefits from the GI Bill by charging newly enlisted service members has been called "unacceptable" and a tax on troops. 

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, R-8, Middletown, wrote a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan last week saying he could not support a measure proposed by House Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Phil Roe, a Republican from Tennessee. Under Roe's plan, new service members would pay $2,400 over two years, or $100 a month, to access the GI Bill's educational benefits.

Brian Fitzpatrick heads into Washington with independent agenda

Freshman Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick's modest Washington, D.C., office is not nearly as roomy as the one formerly used by his brother, retired three-term Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick.

He managed, however, to hang on to at least one feature: a giant Ferris wheel built with K'NEX, the construction toys manufactured in Hatfield Township, a Montgomery County piece of Fitzpatrick's 8th Congressional District that also includes all of Bucks County.
