Fitzpatrick bill seeks to help essential workers with student loan debt

Newly introduced bipartisan legislation introduced by U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) would establish a new commission to designate specific essential workers and to provide them with student loan debt relief during the pandemic.

“Our essential workers put their lives at risk every day to make sure the rest of us are safe and healthy,” said Rep. Fitzpatrick. “They deserve all of the help we can provide them. By providing the option to help pay their student loans or continue their education, we can give them one less thing to worry about.”

Bucks County Getting $109 Million In COVID-19 Relief Funds From Feds

Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick’s office announced the allocation of the local relief grant this week. Bucks County was one of only seven in the entire state to receive the federal funds through the program.

Under the CARES Act, the county can use the funds to cover necessary expenditures due to COVID-19 that were not in the 2020 spending budget and incurred between March 1 and December 30.

County officials have said in recent weeks that COVID-19 has caused numerous unexpected costs since the pandemic began.

U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-1st dist.) joined a group of lawmakers seeking assistance for local media companies facing challenges brought on due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fitzpatrick signed on to a letter asking the Trump administration to direct advertisement funds for federal programs to local media outlets. Additionally, the letter asks the administration to accelerate marketing campaigns with local media and incentivize businesses to advertise in local media.
