FITZPATRICK: THERE IS MORE THAT UNITES US THAN DIVIDES US
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08) released the following statement Tuesday regarding the president’s address to a joint session of Congress:
“While there will be competing reactions from both sides, it’s imperative that this Congress – and this country – find areas of agreement and common goals to focus on. From tax reform and infrastructure investment to ensuring a government accountable to the people it serves, I’m ready to work with groups like the Problem Solvers Caucus to make these bipartisan objectives a reality. As an independent voice for the people of Bucks and Montgomery counties, I am of the firm belief that there is far more that unites us than divides us.”
Tomorrow, Fitzpatrick will speak at the National No Labels Problem Solvers Conference to discuss the goals of the Problem Solvers Caucus and the role of bipartisanship in crafting legislation in the 115th Congress. You can watch live at 4:00pm at www.nolabels.org
Background: On March 1-2, 700 citizens, hailing from all 50 states, will travel to D.C. at their own expense for the first-ever National Problem Solvers Conference. Part strategy session and part public statement, the event will kick off a yearlong effort to strengthen a Problem Solvers Caucus emerging in Congress. After holding a strategy session on March 1, the assembled No Labels citizens will head to Capitol Hill on March 2, where they will walk through the House and Senate halls with “Fix Not Fight” T-shirts and will meet directly with their respective members of Congress and their staffs. At these meetings, citizens will be asking members to commit to a “Govern or Go Home” promise to the American people, featuring five leadership principles No Labels believes are essential to restoring a functioning government in Washington.
