Washington, DC—Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) will be joining Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-05) as the new Co-Chair of the Congressional International Basic Education Caucus.

“I am proud to join Congressman Mike Quigley as a Co-Chair of the bipartisan International Basic Education Caucus. This bipartisan group of legislators aims to support international basic education and act quickly to respond to global events that affect access to quality education,” said Rep. Fitzpatrick. “We will strive to create a unified voice within Congress to strengthen U.S. policy towards education for the developing world.”

“I founded the International Basic Education Caucus because I believe we have a bipartisan responsibility to help students by supporting educational programs on a global scale,” said Rep. Quigley. “Since 2015, we have encouraged our Members and our colleagues throughout Congress to invest in quality education in the developing world, improving the quality of life and economic security of the most vulnerable. I am pleased to have Congressman Fitzpatrick join as Caucus Co-Chair, and I look forward to working with him as we address our world’s pressing education challenges.”

Through the International Basic Education Caucus, members of Congress will have the opportunity to help increase support for and raise awareness of international basic education programs. The caucus seeks to enhance understanding of global education challenges and build broad bipartisan support to address these issues. It will also serve as a platform to quickly respond to events that affect schoolchildren around the globe through open engagement with global education stakeholders.
