Fitzpatrick and Boyle Request EPA Deploy Research Team to Bucks and Montgomery Counties

Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Brendan Boyle (D-PA) sent a joint letter today requesting the EPA deploy a research team to Bucks and Montgomery Counties as the EPA develops a National PFAS Management Plan.

Fitzpatrick and Boyle are urging EPA Administrator Pruitt to send researchers to the communities surrounding the former Naval Air Station-Joint Reserve Base Willow Grove, the active Horsham Air Guard Station, and the former Naval Air Warfare Center in Warminster.

“If the purpose of these proposed site visits is to gather information about the areas most affected by PFAS contamination, unfortunately our communities in Bucks and Montgomery Counties certainly belong at the top of that list,” wrote Fitzpatrick and Boyle. “Over the past several years, our offices have developed strong relationships throughout the state, local, and federal ecosystem of authorities and experts addressing this issue, and we believe your National PFAS Management Plan would be incomplete without a visit to the area.”

Last month, the EPA announced that it plans to travel to several states with communities impacted by PFOA/PFOS in order to hear directly from the public on how to best help areas facing this issue.
