WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08) today made a statement on President Trump’s pardon of I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby:

"I strongly disagree with and disapprove of the President’s decision to pardon Scooter Libby, as I have disagreed with the decisions of multiple past Presidents from both parties misusing their pardon authority. Pardon authority should only be used in extraordinary circumstances consistent with our national interests. As a former federal agent, the crimes of lying to federal investigators and obstruction of justice are serious crimes, and respect for these laws is necessary for our law enforcement and national security community to do their job to keep the American people safe."
