LANGHORNE, PA - Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-8), a member of both the Foreign Affairs and Homeland Security Committees, released the following statement regarding U.S. missile strikes in Syria:

"Our nation's response to Syria was both measured in its scope and relevant in its target. We must unite as a nation against egregious violations of human rights and not sit idly by while a brutal dictator takes the lives of innocent citizens, including children, through the use of banned chemical weapons. Moving forward, the administration must work with Congress and outline clear policy goals for Syria and the larger fight against terrorism in the region.”

Earlier this week, Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad’s regime launched a deadly chemical attack which killed dozens of civilians, including children. Thursday night’s strike hit the airfield where the attack was launched and, according to the Pentagon, "severely damaged or destroyed Syrian aircraft and support infrastructure and equipment... reducing the Syrian Government's ability to deliver chemical weapons."
