Langhorne, Pa— Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08) released a statement reaffirming his support for civilian federal government employees following the Administration’s intention to eliminate pay increases in 2019.

“Federal employees are dedicated, hardworking, public servants that play a vital role in our community. From taking care of our veterans, to administering Social Security and Medicare and keeping our homeland secure, our public servants deliver many essential services to our community. They deserve to be compensated fairly for their work. That’s why I oppose the decision to freeze federal pay in 2019. Congress must include a fair pay adjustment for civilian federal employees in the upcoming spending bill that accounts for increases in inflation and cost of living expenses.”

Earlier this year, the Senate passed an appropriations bill that included a 1.9-percent raise for federal employees. In the coming weeks, Congress must pass an appropriations bill before fiscal year 2019 starts on Oct. 1st.
