LANGHORNE, PA—Today, May 12th, 2020, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) received a phone call from Wolfgang Puck regarding the needs of America’s restaurants, the second largest employer in the United States. Fitzpatrick and Puck spent approximately 30 minutes on the phone discussing the Never Again Small Business Protection Act, bipartisan business interruption insurance legislation introduced by Fitzpatrick last month, as well as financial assistance mechanisms specifically geared toward the restaurant industry, which has been hardest hit and is faced with the biggest challenges with reopening and returning to full operational capacity. When the restaurants are impacted, there is a ripple effect that impacts the entire supply chain, from the farmers to the truckers to the servers and everyone in between.
Fitzpatrick and Puck will be collaborating on legislative ideas to assist the restaurant industry, with the assistance of Puck’s organization, the Business Interruption Group.
Last week, Fitzpatrick authored a bipartisan Op-Ed with Congressman Mike Thompson regarding Business Interruption Insurance as the most comprehensive, efficient, and fair system to recover from the economic consequences of COVID-19.
