WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) joined Parkland families in a private meeting with President Trump in the Oval Office. Fitzpatrick has been working with families who lost loved ones in the Parkland tragedy, to advance their efforts to ensure that no family suffers a similar tragedy. Fitzpatrick provided the President with a legislative update on several pending bills, including H.R. 3714, the EAGLES Act of 2019, named for the mascot at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, which will reauthorize and expand the National Threat Assessment Center of the Department of Homeland Security to provide robust funding for school safety assessments across the nation.

“I stand 100% behind the families who lost their loved ones in Parkland and similar tragedies across the nation. We must ensure that no child, and no family, will ever endure such a tragedy again,” said Fitzpatrick. “I commend these families for their commitment to bipartisan solutions, and for having the courage to turn their tragedy into positive action.”

Following the private meeting with the President, Fitzpatrick will continue to stand with the Parkland families to be their voice in advocating for the public safety legislation that they seek to advance.
