LANGHORNE, PA – Representative Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) released the following statement following President Biden’s remarks on Afghanistan:

“The President said that al-Qaeda is no longer in Afghanistan. This is false. Both the State Department and IC contradict this. And those of us who have spent our entire career in the IC, and those of us who have served in the region, know this assertion to be absurd.

The President said that Americans are not encountering problems gaining entrance to Kabul Airport. This is false. The Defense Department has acknowledged to us reports that Americans have been beaten by the Taliban while attempting to enter the airport.

The President said that he has received no criticism from our NATO allies. This is false. The British Parliament just held Joe Biden in contempt over Afghanistan, condemning his actions as “catastrophic” and “shameful.”

This Administration has literally outsourced the U.S. withdrawal of Afghanistan to the judgment and restraint of the Taliban, a terrorist organization.”
