Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08), a former FBI Special Agent and member of the federal law enforcement community, released the following statement Monday recognizing Law Enforcement Appreciation Day 2017:
“Last year, 135 law enforcement officers made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Despite the dangers of the job, the men and women in blue willingly face those risks each day to ensure the safety of our communities and to protect the ordered liberty provided under the law. While today, on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, we say ‘thank you,’ let our gratitude for the selfless work of our local, state and federal law enforcement officers continue in all places and at all times.”
Additionally, Fitzpatrick joined other newly-elected freshmen members of Congress in urging President Obama to observe this day by lighting the White House blue. The letter, sent last week, makes clear that communities, leaders and government should show support for the millions of public servants who risk their lives every day to keep our communities safe.
