WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08) has been named to the House Committee on Small Business for the 115th Congress. The announcement comes the days after Fitzpatrick was selected to serve as a member of both the Foreign Affairs and Homeland Security committees.
“Bucks and Montgomery counties small businesses are the backbone of our local economy – from the family farm to a Main Street boutique. I am excited to have the opportunity to serve as their independent voice as a member of the Small Business Committee,” said Fitzpatrick. “As Certified Public Accountant, I’ve seen that many small businesses have complex accounting needs, but limited resources to address them. I look forward to working together to create an environment where our small businesses can grow and flourish.”
“We are pleased to welcome Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick as the newest member of the House Small Business Committee,” said Chairman Steve Chabot. “Congressman Fitzpatrick understands that small businesses are the keystone of American economy, creating two out of three new jobs. He will be a valuable addition to our team at the Small Business Committee as we work to cut red tape, increase access to capital and advance commonsense reforms to help small businesses prosper in Pennsylvania and across our country.”
The House Small Business Committee was established as a permanent standing committee in 1975 to protect and assist small businesses. As such, the Committee has jurisdiction over matters related to small business financial aid, regulatory flexibility, and paperwork reduction. Additionally, the House Small Business Committee has oversight and legislative authority over the Small Business Administration (SBA) and its programs.
