Langhorne, PA – Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08) released the following statement in the wake of the tragedy in Thousand Oaks:
“Yesterday evening, our nation witnessed yet another tragedy. Twelve individuals were senselessly killed by a person who should not have had access to a weapon. I cannot fathom the unimaginable pain felt by the Thousand Oaks community, and I send my deepest condolences to those mourning their loved ones and friends today. I commend the bravery of law enforcement and first responders, who worked valiantly to save lives and secure the area. Let us honor the memory of Sgt. Ron Helus, who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect his community. We must immediately begin a new approach to combatting gun violence in the United States. Republicans and Democrats must commit to working together to ensure gun safety laws keep people from obtaining firearms when they pose a significant risk to themselves and others.”
