Langhorne, Pa— Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-08) released the following statement in observance of Labor Day:
“Today, we celebrate the history and achievements of American labor, and extend our gratitude to the working men and women who are the backbone our great nation’s economy.
With this in mind, we must continue to advance the cause of workers’ rights, as they are fundamental to a balanced system that ensures all families are afforded decent wages and suitable working conditions.
American labor is comprised of innumerable professions that better our society, incorporating teachers and police officers, social workers and letter carriers, plumbers and electricians, machinists and farmers, and many others in between. Let us take this day to celebrate the accomplishments of all American workers and the indispensable services they provide.”
Labor Day was proclaimed a national holiday in 1894 by President Grover Cleveland. It continues to serve as a fitting tribute to hardworking Americans and their families.
