BRISTOL BOROUGH, PA—Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) welcomed Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson to Bucks County. Secretary Carson was visiting the district to tour the newly designated Opportunity Zone in the area. Following the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the Opportunity Zone designation was created to aid communities fighting to right their course through economic stimulus.
“I was excited to welcome Secretary Carson to Bucks County to tour our new Opportunity Zone in Bristol Borough. Opportunity Zones spur economic development by encouraging private investment and capital infusions. This kind of investment will increase property values and create jobs for areas that have fallen on hard times,” said Rep. Fitzpatrick. “These are the kinds of ideas that we need to revitalize our communities. This coordinated effort will bring public and private investment resources to create jobs and a stronger economy in Bristol Borough.”
“It was great to visit Bucks County with Congressman Fitzpatrick and see development plans for an area designated as an Opportunity Zone. The community sentiment is part of what makes Bristol Borough ripe for investment. With the help of its designation as an Opportunity Zone, combined with the commitment of the community, and leadership from officials like Congressman Fitzpatrick, there are great things in store for Bristol Borough,” said Secretary Carson.
The communities that earn the Opportunity Zone designation share the same qualities. They have good people who want to make their community better and have the determination and potential for real growth. The residents of Bristol Borough are committed and are already implementing community unifying principles. In recent years, Bristol Borough has begun reinvigorating its commercial corridor as well as utilizing their waterfront. Bristol Borough is a business-friendly community that prides itself on having a skilled, educated, and diverse workforce, local assets, and nearby attractions—all of which will provide strong incentives for attracting, retaining, and expanding economic growth.
