Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) has introduced an amendment which would stop proposed pay increases for Members of Congress. The bill, H.R. 2740, would provide a $4,500 pay increase to Members of Congress, making their total salary $178,500.
“Congress has failed to pass a budget, failed to pass appropriations bills, repeatedly shut down the government, and allows our immigration and heath care systems to continue to deteriorate. Members of Congress don’t deserve a pay raise while failing to do their job as hardworking Americans show up to work every day, complete their work, and still live paycheck to paycheck,” said Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick is calling on all of his colleagues to join him in supporting this amendment and saying Congress shouldn’t be putting more money in their pockets until they actually do their job.
Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick is serving his second term in the U.S. House of Representatives. He represents Pennsylvania’s 1st District which includes all of Bucks County as well as a portion of Montgomery County. He is a former FBI Supervisory Special Agent, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
