WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, the Congressional Ukraine Caucus Co-Chairs Representatives Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Mike Quigley (D-IL), and Andy Harris (R-MD) released the following statement regarding the diplomatic talks taking place this week in Geneva between the United States and Russia:
“The Congressional Ukraine Caucus remains dedicated to the mission of ensuring a safe, prosperous, and independent Ukraine.
“We applaud the reiteration of America’s commitment to security cooperation with Ukraine, as well as NATO’s open-door policy. Ukraine’s aspiration to join the European community of democratic nations should not be a bargaining chip held by those who wish her harm.
“While diplomatic engagement continues, threats to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity remain. As such, the United States and our global allies must deliver the robust defensive military assistance that is vital to countering Russian aggression, as well as properly sanction the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project.
“The stability of Europe is on the line. We must withhold no effort in safeguarding liberty for present and future generations.”
