WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday, November 3, 2022, U.S. Representative Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) was named a 2022 Champion for Children by the bipartisan advocacy organization First Focus Campaign for Children. Only 40 members of the House of Representatives are awarded each year.

“I am proud to be honored as a Champion for Children by First Focus Campaign for Children,” said Congressman Fitzpatrick. “America’s children will one day be America’s leaders, and they deserve the resources and programs they need to get them there. I will continue to put my name on legislation that benefits children across the country, and I urge my colleagues to do the same.”

Congressman Fitzpatrick is the sponsor of several bills and resolutions aimed at improving the lives and educations of children, including H.R.8548 New Essential Education Discoveries Act of 2022, H.R.8494 Trauma-Informed Schools Act of 2022, H.R.6608 Scratch Cooked Meals for Students Act, and H.R.5984, IDEA Full Funding Act.

First Focus Campaign for Children’s 2022 Legislative Scorecard ranks members of Congress according to votes and bill sponsorships taken during the 117th Congress that prioritize the well-being of children in the U.S. and around the world. The new report examines key pieces of legislation designed to reduce child poverty, protect unhoused children, aid those who lost caregivers to COVID-19, guard against environmental threats, ensure that children have enough to eat, and to address other issues critical to advancing the needs of all children everywhere. Just 120 members of Congress in total, across both chambers and parties, were named Champions or Defenders for children in the 117th Congress. See the list of winners here.
