WASHINGTON, DC – To mark two years since the start of Russia’s unprovoked and illegal invasion of Ukraine the bipartisan Co-Chairs of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1), Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-5), Congressman Andy Harris (MD-1), and Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-9) have introduced H.Res. 1014, a resolution commemorating the heroic sacrifices of the Ukrainian people since February 24, 2022, recognizing the terrible cost of Russia’s war of aggression. The bipartisan resolution has 35 co-sponsors from across the Congressional Ukraine Caucus.

“It has been two years since the despot Vladimir Putin launched his unprovoked, ruthless war against Ukraine,” said Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, Co-Chair of the Ukraine Caucus. “Countless innocent Ukrainians have been slaughtered, as well as many fallen soldiers who died in defense of their sovereign homeland. Their sacrifice cannot be in vain. The United States and our allies have an obligation to ensure Ukraine prevails over Putin. Democracies must continue to stand up and stand together so that freedom prevails.”

“In the immediate aftermath of Putin’s brutal invasion, Congress stood united and ready to help Ukraine defend itself. Two years later, we must reawaken that same unyielding commitment to the preservation of democracy,” said Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-5), Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus. “In observance of the invasion, I ask my colleagues to choose freedom over tyranny. I ask them to stand on the right side of history and pass the additional aid Ukraine needs to turn the tide. We must do this for Ukraine and for the fate of the free world for generations to come.”

“Tomorrow marks two years since Vladimir Putin began the brutal and illegal invasion of Ukraine. In that time, the Ukrainian people have demonstrated extraordinary courage and resolve in the face of evil and have bravely faced down the onslaught of unprovoked Russian aggression on their lives and in their country. I am proud to join my fellow Congressional Ukraine Caucus Members in introducing this new House Resolution to commemorate Ukraine as she stands against the continued, unprovoked, and illegal Russian aggression,” said Congressman Andy Harris (MD-1), Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus.

“Two years ago tomorrow, Vladimir Putin drove his tanks right at the heart of Ukraine, in an illegal, brutal, and unprovoked war of aggression. For two years, the world has witnessed a sovereign nation—the poorest in Europe—fight for its precious Liberty against the 3rd largest military in the world,” said Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-9), Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus. “And yet, the Ukrainian people have bravely fought to cast off the yoke of Putin’s Tyranny. Our nation and our allies have a responsibility to stand with Ukraine in her time of great need. That is why, I am proud to lead my fellow members of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus in introducing this new House Resolution to commemorate the effort on the part of Ukraine and her people as they stand on the scrimmage line for Liberty.”
