WASHINGTON, DC – To mark two years since the start of Russia’s unprovoked and illegal invasion of Ukraine the bipartisan Co-Chairs of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1), Congressman Mike Quigley (IL-5), Congressman Andy Harris (MD-1), and Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-9) have introduced H.Res. 1014, a resolution commemorating the heroic sacrifices of the Ukrainian people since February 24, 2022, recognizing the terrible cost of Russia’s war of aggression. The bipartisan resolution has 35 co-sponsors from across the Congressional Ukraine Caucus.
“It has been two years since the despot Vladimir Putin launched his unprovoked, ruthless war against Ukraine,” said Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick, Co-Chair of the Ukraine Caucus. “Countless innocent Ukrainians have been slaughtered, as well as many fallen soldiers who died in defense of their sovereign homeland. Their sacrifice cannot be in vain. The United States and our allies have an obligation to ensure Ukraine prevails over Putin. Democracies must continue to stand up and stand together so that freedom prevails.”
“Two years ago tomorrow, Vladimir Putin drove his tanks right at the heart of Ukraine, in an illegal, brutal, and unprovoked war of aggression. For two years, the world has witnessed a sovereign nation—the poorest in Europe—fight for its precious Liberty against the 3rd largest military in the world,” said Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-9), Co-Founder and Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus. “And yet, the Ukrainian people have bravely fought to cast off the yoke of Putin’s Tyranny. Our nation and our allies have a responsibility to stand with Ukraine in her time of great need. That is why, I am proud to lead my fellow members of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus in introducing this new House Resolution to commemorate the effort on the part of Ukraine and her people as they stand on the scrimmage line for Liberty.”
